New York Power Authority

The firm has long served as relicensing and regulatory compliance counsel for the New York Power Authority (NYPA) in its fleet of hydropower projects, including the 2,755 megawatt Niagara Power Project (the largest FERC-licensed hydropower project, in terms of installed capacity), 912 megawatt St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project, and the 1,160 megawatt Blenheim Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project. Throughout the relicensing of the Niagara and St. Lawrence projects, the firm provided legal and strategic counsel and assisted NYPA in negotiating some of the most high-profile and comprehensive relicensing settlement agreements before FERC. More recently, the firm has provided compliance counsel to NYPA as it implements these new licenses, and has assisted NYPA in obtaining two amendments to the Blenheim Gilboa Project as it prepares for the project’s relicensing before FERC.
