Sheri Spang's practice focuses on energy and environmental matters. She assists electric industry clients on issues relating to the development and acquisition of power projects, market-based rate authorizations, interconnection agreements, and various regulatory matters and rulemakings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). With regard to environmental matters, Sheri assists in advising clients on various regulatory compliance matters and rulemakings before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with special emphasis on the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
Prior to returning to Van Ness Feldman, where Sheri began her career, Sheri was an Emerging Business Advisor at Dun and Bradstreet. She worked directly with business owners to develop strategic plans to attain financial goals and ensure financial stability through risk mitigation. Sheri’s commitment to understanding each client’s unique circumstances allowed her to provide effective advice tailored to their specific goals.
From 2008 to 2016, Sheri worked at Peju Winery in Rutherford, CA as a Winemaking and Compliance Assistant where she ensured compliance with federal regulations under the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), including monthly tax reporting, permit renewals, new permitting applications for a new facility and existing facility growth, and labeling requirements, as well as ensuring compliance with California and Napa County Hazardous Materials Management Program and organic farming requirements.
Sheri also worked as a Government Relations and Development Assistant for The Flying Hospital, Inc. in London, England, where she assisted in the planning of international humanitarian medical clinics in developing nations and organized fundraising events. She also previously served as a Grassroots Organizing Assistant for the National Coalition on Health Care in Washington, DC. In this position, she coordinated Business Roundtable events, organized lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, and served as the principle liaison between national headquarters and state grassroots organizers.
