The City of Houston, Texas has hired former Senator Mary Landrieu and VNF Solutions to advise the City on the recovery and rebuilding process in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Mayor Sylvester Turner cited Landrieu and her team’s success helping the City of New Orleans following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as their personal experiences confronting the challenges encountered during the New Orleans rebuilding process.
Senator Landrieu said in a statement, “I have not forgotten the generosity of the great people of Houston in the days, months, and years following Hurricane Katrina. We are honored to have the opportunity to help the City of Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. My team and I are committed to using our knowledge and experience to ensure that the City of Houston not only recovers and restores what was lost in the storm, but ultimately rebuilds the City to be even safer and stronger for the future.”

The Van Ness Feldman disaster recovery team is led by former Senator Mary Landrieu (LA), who effectively fought for Louisiana and Gulf Coast recovery assistance in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She served as Chair of the Disaster Recovery Subcommittee of the Senate Government Affairs and Homeland Security Committee that was created to lead Congressional policy on recovery in the wake of these major storms. In 2012, while still serving in the United States Senate, her assistance was called upon by her colleagues who represented the states affected by Super Storm Sandy. The experience gained by Senator Landrieu and other members of our team allow us to assist localities, states, and businesses effectively as they confront the impacts of disasters today.
