CURC Honored with Peabody Global Clean Coal Leadership Award

November 20, 2019

Congratulations to the Carbon Utilization Research Council (CURC) for being recognized as a Peabody Clean Coal Advocate.

Created in 1998, CURC is an industry coalition focused on technology solutions for the responsible use of fossil energy resources as part of a balanced portfolio to meet the nation’s demand for reliable, affordable energy. CURC’s technology-specific mission makes it a unique, nonpartisan voice on Capitol Hill in support of the development of advanced fossil fuel technologies.

With its technical expertise, CURC plays an important role in educating policymakers on the role of technologies like carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) in a larger national clean energy strategy. CURC recently testified before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change on the contribution of fossil fuel technology to deep decarbonization objectives.

CURC also played a critical role in the reform of the 45Q tax credit for carbon dioxide sequestration, a landmark policy development that has spurred significant interest in carbon capture deployment in the U.S.

CURC is led by Shannon Angielski, a Principal at Van Ness Feldman.
